The Colorful Flow of Life

As Ayse said before: "Your life is your most important project". This project is based on the idea that our life is our biggest project and that it can be improved upon by using design thinking.

I believe you cannot help someone else improve their life if you don`t know about your own life.

Lusha`s inspiration comes from an important element in her life - the rainbow palette of color, which she used as a metaphor of the current status of her life in the class.

She used different colored inks as the basic modules to form her life system. She gave each color a specific meaning. Pink represents love, white represents herself, as she envision herself as a pure human being without being polluted. Yellow represents you - the viewer, as she regards you as the sunshine in her life. She created a color matrix of her life system which shows the different combinations of colors indicating different meanings. For example, she combined white which means "I" with purple which means "time" to represent the sentence "Where have all the flowers gone?" The sentence means time goes by.

Moreover, different quantity of the color drops represent extended meanings. For example, one drop of yellow ink means "you", two drops of it means "you" in plural.

The modules live inside a big tank filled with water, which represents the fluidity and vital element of life. Every time when different color inks were dropped into and mixed within the water tanks, a special message and meaning was formed and manifested within my life system carried and maintained by the fluid of life. For example, the message, "I love you" is sent out by the drop of pink , white, and yellow inks into the water tank, and it can only be conveyed when the mix and blend happen in the water tank.

Lusha sees and comprehends the world using color. Her life system has a cognitive quality which is important for her to visualize the world and her relationship with others. By viewing her life system, other people have a way to understand their relationship to her and how she projects them into her life.

Your life is your most important project

This project is based on the idea that our life is our biggest project and that it can be improved upon by using design thinking. I believe you cannot help someone else improve their life if you don`t know about your own life.

Ayse Birsel asked us to create a novel, modular system or “language” to describe our lives—something algorithmic and additive.

My inspiration comes from an important element in my life - the rainbow palette of color, which I used as a metaphor of the current status of my life in the class. I used different colored inks as the basic modules to form my life system. I gave each color a specific meaning. Pink represents love, white represents myself, as I envision myself as a pure human being without being polluted. Yellow represents you - the viewer, as I regard you as the sunshine in my life.

The modules interact inside a water-filled vessel, representing the fluid and vital element of life. When different color inks were dropped into the vessel, a distinct message is formed. The message, "I love you”, for example, is represented by the droplets of white, pink, and yellow inks. Finally, different quantities of color drops can be used to extend meaning. For example, where one drop of yellow ink means "you", two drops mean "you" in the plural, and three mean "friends". One drop of pink is "love", but three drops is "family". In this way, the language can be broadened, and the messages can become more complex.

I see and comprehend the world using color. My life system has a cognitive quality which is important for my to visualize the world and her relationship with others. By viewing my life system, other people have a way to understand their relationship to me and how I project them into my life.
